Reid Klei Winemaker
Reid’s passion for winemaking began at the lab at Snoqualmie Winery in Prosser Washington where he began working after earning a degree in Biology at Eastern Washington University. During his second harvest there, he made a small batch of wine in the cellar and quickly found a love for the winemaking process when he found out just how much science the winemaking process entailed. After that, he joined the winemaking team at Columbia Crest Winery where he spent the next 13 harvests, all while gaining a vast amount of winemaking experience. Wanting to diversify his winemaking style, he moved on to become winemaker at Alexandria Nicole Cellars for two harvests before ultimately taking the reins at McKinley Springs for the 2023 harvest. “I have worked in the Horse Heaven Hills for my entire career and have had the pleasure of working with McKinley Springs fruit for many of those years. I know how phenomenal the grapes are here and am excited to be working with them again.”
Reid was born and raised in Kennewick, Washington and is the youngest of 4 children. After graduating from Kennewick High School, he went to Eastern Washington University. He met his wife Jennifer while working at Columbia Crest and the two got married in 2010. They have 2 sons, Milo and Grayson. They enjoy running, traveling and spending quality time together as a family.
